Michael Maddocks

Michael Maddocks started playing the trumpet at age 7 and later studied at Birmingham Conservatoire with Paul Mayes, Andy Stone-Fewings and Percy Pursglove. Michael graduated in 2016 with a BA(Hons) in trumpet performance.  


Michael has performed with dbhorns since 2014 on projects such as The Best of WhamAnd Finally Phil Collins, AMY: a tribute to Amy Winehouse and Talons: Best of the Eagles. Michael also played lead trumpet in both the And Finally Big Band tours of the UK and Jersey.


Michael has regular musical theatre dates including Phantom of the Opera, Sister Act, Anything Goes, Guys n Dolls and many more. Michael frequently plays in sessions with the London Musical Theatre Orchestra (including their professional launch in June 2016, State Fair in November 2016 and Candide in July 2017) and in 2014 performed a new musical named "Riptide" at the Edinburgh Fringe, earning 5 star reviews. In 2017 Michael toured with Sincerely Yours Vera Lynn, a theatre show celebrating Vera Lynn's 100th Birthday. In 2018 Michael will tour China and Europe with Heartbeat of Home.

Michael has been involved with several recordings, most notably as part of the 9 piece band on Daphne Sounds Expensive series 1&2, a radio comedy first played on BBC Radio 4 in July 2016.​ Michael has also been involved in recording sessions for artists on the Sony Music record label

in 2016 Michael wrote the book "Considerations of a Trumpet Player", a book linking the physics of the trumpet with how to play the trumpet. More details of this can be found on Michael's website - www.michaelmaddocks.com
